@kirschsteins-delivery-service I think the Hamlet comparison is overemphasized. The Lion King with humans is not simply Hamlet. Anyway, the broadway show exists in a kind of surreal blending of human and not human. Human figures are visible on stage holding puppets but also moving like their animals, inspired in part by Japanese shadow puppets—especially clear with Timon, but also Zazu and the gazelle. The lions dress in clothing inspired by African tribal clothing, and lion-mask headdresses.
