vaginas don’t represent courage, dignity, or strength
I’m sorry, when you can push a five to ten pound human out of your body then you can talk to us about courage, dignity and strength.
Say it one more time.
Testicles represent dignity?
hmm yes it’s true, all the pertinent English expressions seem to associate testicles with good things and female reproductive organs like the uterus or the vagina with bad stuff I wonder who came up with those expressions and/or the medical concepts behind them
Although even so, not all of the pertinent English expressions associate testicles with good things.
For one thing, balls represent vulnerability and sensitivity in certain contexts (like a kick in the balls), and balls can be used to express general shittiness of the situation (Oh, BALLS) as well as a substitute for bullshit in some places (that’s complete bollocks). However, canine testicles are apparently awesome …
Saying testicles represent courage, dignity and strength isn’t even entirely accurate within the confines of male-dominated culture.
That’s a good point. There are certainly metaphoric acknowledgments of the downsides of testicles, and like many other body parts, testicles are used as an insult (as is the penis—and, on the other side, breasts and female genitalia). I think what’s very telling is that there are no equivalent positive expressions about female gonads to balance things out.
